HP in talks to buy Aruba Networks - report
HP is in talks to acquire Aruba Networks, people with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg. A purchase of Aruba, which has a market value of about USD 2.4 billion, may be announced as early as next week, the report said. Wi-Fi specialist Aruba would bolster HP's networking business, which turned in sales of USD 562 million in the quarter ended in January, an 11 percent decline from a year earlier. Aruba posted total sales of USD 207.8 million for the quarter to 31 October, representing growth of 29 percent.

Wireless equipment maker Aruba Networks reported revenues for its second financial quarter up 21 percent year on year to USD 212.9 million. The net result grew to a profit of USD 5.7 million or USD 0.05 per share from a loss in the year earlier quarter of USD 10.7 million or USD 0.10 per share. HP lowers outlook on stronger dollar

HP reported revenues for its fiscal first quarter to January of USD 26.8 billion, down 5 percent from the prior-year period and down 2 percent on a constant currency basis. Adjusted EPS was up 2 percent year-on-year to USD 0.92, in line with the company's outlook of 89-93 cents a share. Reported earnings fell 1 percent to USD 0.73, also in line with the outlook. Aruba Networks has launched the dual-radio AP-103H hospitality access point (AP) to enable hotels in the Middle East to provide fast, secure and scalable Wi-Fi to employees and guests. The AP-103H maximizes mobile device performance in moderately dense Wi-Fi environments while minimising interference from mobile networks. It installs in minutes and easily mounts to an electrical or data wall box. It uses the existing structured cabling system to provide secure wired and Wi-Fi network access.
