HTC is acquiring video delivery platform company Saffron Digital. Saffron Digital's CEO Shashi Fernando said that HTC's investment increases the company's global expansion capabilities and provides it with an opportunity to expand into new markets like Asia and new sectors like games and music delivery. Saffron Digital will continue to provide its media and content services to its third-party partners, which include device manufacturers, network operators and content providers in 26 countries. The company's headquarters will remain in London and Los Angeles, while its management team will continue unchanged. HTC said it will buy 4.87 million shares in Saffron Digital at GBP 6.16 each, for a total purchase price of GBP 30 million.
