HTC blames lower Q2 profit on weak European demand
Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has blamed weak demand in Europe and delays of phone shipments to the US for a significant drop in profit in the second quarter, reports Reuters. Unaudited net profit for the April-June quarter was TWD 7.4 billion, down from TWD 17.52 billion a year earlier, but up from TWD 4.47 billion in the January-March quarter. Revenue in the second quarter was TWD 91 billion, up from TWD 67.79 billion in Q1. HTC also said that consolidated sales for June reached TWD 30 billion, down 33.4 percent from June 2011 and constant month-on-month.
