HTC introduces dual-Sim Desire 600
HTC announced a new version of its Desire smartphone, the dual-Sim Desire 600. This is the first mid-range phone to feature HTC's latest user interface, Sense 5, with features such as BlinkFeed and BoomSound. The new Desire runs Android Jelly Bean and a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and features a 4.5-inch LCD2 screen, dual front speakers and an 8 megapixel rear camera with advanced video editing and sharing features. The HTC Desire 600 will be available with mobile operators and major retailers in a number of markets from early June.

HTC sees departure of several top executives

Taiwanese phonemaker HTC has seen the departure of several senior executives in recent weeks, reports the Wall Street Journal, citing company statement. HTC reported a bigger drop than expected in first-quarter results. As earlier reported, revenues fell to TWD 42.8 billion from TWD 67.8 billion a year earlier, missing the smartphone maker's guidance of TWD 50-60 billion. The gross margin at 20.3 percent also fell short of the outlook of 21-23 percent, and operating profit was barely breakeven, at TWD 0.04 billion or 0.1 percent of sales, versus an outlook of 0.5-1.0 percent. Facebook unveils Home for Android

Facebook has introduced Home, an immersive way for Android mobile users to see what's happening with friends and family. Home features a cover feed that replaces the lock screen and the home screen of the phone, enabling users to see and access more stories and double tap to "like" content they see. HTC blames One delay on components shortage

A shortage of camera parts and substandard metal casings have forced HTC to delay the launch of its One flagship smartphone, the company's chief marketing officer, Benjamin Ho told Dow Jones. Speaking to reporters for the first time since he took over the job in January, Ho said "productivity (of the parts) is improving" but it will "take time" to ramp up production. HTC upbeat on HTC One sales

Taiwanese smartphone vendor HTC has seen pre-orders for the HTC One exceed pre-orders for the HTC Butterfly. "Pre-orders for the new HTC One greatly exceeded our expectations following the product launch last month in New York and London," the Taipei Times quotes HTC north Asia-Pacific region president Jack Tong as saying.
