HTC posts Q3 loss, sales down more than expected
HTC recorded a net loss of TWD 2.97 billion for the third quarter, on revenues down to TWD 47.05 billion. The operating loss was TWD 3.50 billion. The smartphone maker showed a small improvement in sales in September, which rose 38 percent from the previous month to TWD 18.15 billion. Overall, quarterly sales were still less than the TWD 50-60 billion predicted by the company and TWD 70.7 billion in the second quarter. HTC will release a full quarterly report later this month.

HTC announced a net profit of TWD 0.31 billion for the fourth quarter, down from TWD 1.0 billion a year earlier. Smartphone maker HTC is facing supply constraints on its latest model, reports Reuters citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter. HTC revenues down 45% in August

HTC reported revenues of TWD 13.2 billion in August, down 16.3 percent from the previous month. On an annual basis, the decline in revenues worsened to 45.2 percent in August, compared to a drop of 37.2 percent in July, 26.4 percent fall in June and just 3.4 percent lower revenues in May. Over the first eight months of the year, the smartphone maker's revenues totaled TWD 142.2 billion, down 31.5 percent from the year-earlier period.

HTC announced July revenues of TWD 15.7 billion, down 37.15 percent from a year earlier and 28.75 percent lower than in June. The smartphone maker earlier forecast third-quarter revenue of TWD 50-60 billion, down from TWD 70.7 billion in the second quarter.
