HTC sees Q1 results flat to lower
HTC expects little improvement in its results in the first quarter. In a presentation of its fourth-quarter results, the smartphone maker forecast revenue flat to lower on a quarterly basis in the first three months of 2013, at TWD 50-60 billion. The gross margin is estimated at 21-23 percent, versus 23 percent in Q4, and the operating margin is expected to drop to 0.5-1.0 percent, from 1.0 percent in the previous quarter.

HTC sales fall more than expected in Q1

HTC reported preliminary results for the first quarter showing revenues at TWD 42.8 billion, down 36.9 percent from a year earlier. The company earlier forecast sales flat to lower versus Q4, at TWD 50-60 billion. The year-on-year drop in sales accelerated from 6.5 percent in January to 48.6 percent in March. Operating profit for the three months to March fell to TWD 43 billion, and net profit came in at TWD 85 million or TWD 0.10 per share.

HTC sales fall 44% in February

HTC reported February sales of TWD 11.37 billion, down 27 percent from January and 44 percent lower than a year earlier. In the first two months of the year, revenues fell 27.1 percent from a year earlier to TWD 26.91 billion. The smartphone maker will need to see strong initial sales of its new HTC One flagship phone launching this month in order to meet its forecast for first-quarter revenue of TWD 50-60 billion.

HTC to launch M7 Android smartphone in March - report

AT&T Mobility, Sprint Nextel and T-Mobile USA will launch HTC's upcoming flagship Android smartphone, codenamed the M7, according to the blog HTC Source. According to the blog, which cited an unnamed source, the carriers will launch the device as the HTC One on 22 March for USD 199.99 with a two-year contract, said Fierce Wireless.
