HTC sees stronger sales in Q2 after One series launch
HTC forecast a strong improvement in second-quarter revenues, driven by the launch of its HTC One series of smartphones in April. The company expects revenue of around NTD 105 billion, up sharply from TWD 67.8 billion in the first three months of 2012. The gross margin should improve to 27 percent from 25 percent in Q1, and the operating margin rise to 11 percent from 7.5. The outlook was given in its presentation of first-quarter results, which were down sharply due to a lack of new phones from the smartphone maker. HTC said it has received positive feedback on the One series, with distribution agreements with more than 140 partners worldwide. The launch is supported by an advertising campaign on TV and other media.
