Huawei, O2 UK announce successful live LTE trial
O2 UK and Huawei have announced a successful live trial of LTE technology. During the trial, a cell peak downlink rate of 150 Mbps was achieved in the Slough area, the headquarters of O2 in the UK. O2 parent Telefonica recently announced plans for trials of new LTE/SAE technology. Huawei is the first of Telefonica's trial LTE vendors to have successfully implemented a live trial LTE network, conducting the UK's first fully operational operator LTE trial with O2. Derek McManus, CTO of O2 UK, said the trial would allow it to gain a better understanding of emerging LTE technology and prepare itself for offering customers next generation mobile broadband services in the future.
