Huawei unveils Honor 6 Plus with dual rear camera

Huawei has unveiled new devices under its Honor brand at an event in Beijing to mark Honor's first anniversary. The company said it has sold over 20 million units of Honor devices in the past year, generating revenue of USD 3 billion. Huawei said Honor will focus more in future on targeting new consumer groups and partnering with other companies. The aim is to ship 40 million units and generate USD 5 billion revenue in 2015 and grow to USD 10 billion in revenue in 2016.

The new products include the Honor 6 Plus, with 5.5-inch screen and dual 8 MP rear cameras. The phone uses the two cameras to increase the light-sensing area and improve the quality of photos. The Honor Plus 6 also comes with an 8 megapixel front camera, as well as the Kirin 925 octa-core chipset, LTE Cat 6 for up to 300 Mbps, 3,600 mAh battery, optional dual-Sim support, 3 GB RAM, 16 or 32 GB internal storage and microSD card support of up to 128 GB. In addition, it supports the Honor Wallet, a new service provider with banks to support mobile payments in stores with the Qucikpass service.

Huawei said the Honor 6 Plus will support 4G services from China Mobile and China Unicom and has also passed AT&T's network tests. The phone is expected to help the company compete on the global market against the top phones from Apple and Samsung, it said.

The Honor range was also expanded with the Spree 4X, a high-end handset with the new 64-bit Kirin processor and support for a wide range of LTE bands around the world. In addition, the company presented the Honor TV Box, a TV streaming box with support for 4K Ultra HD.
