Iliad expresses interest in UK mobile market - report

French telecom group Iliad has approached UK regulator Ofcom to express a preliminary interest in entering the UK mobile market, reports the Financial Times, citing people with knowledge of the matter. Iliad's interest in forming a new mobile operator would depend on the acquisition of infrastructure that would be sold as part of O2's merger with 3 UK, according to the report. Ofcom told the newspaper it "does not discuss whether it had or had not held meetings with companies." Iliad could not be reached for comment.
