Intel backs wearables development reality show
Intel, MGM and TBS will kick off the new reality TV competition ‘America’s Greatest Makers’ on 05 April on TBS which will see 24 teams of inventors compete for a USD 1 million grand prize by creating wearable technology and connected consumer devices using the Intel Curie module. The show is the brainchild of MGM Television and Digital president Mark Burnett, who produced ‘Survivor’, ‘Shark Tank’ and ‘The Voice’. 

In the first two episodes of the show each of the teams will speed pitch their wearable or smart device idea to the judging panel consisting of Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, business and financial expert Carol Roth, comedian, serial entrepreneur and co-host of truTV’s ‘Hack My Life’ Kevin Pereira and a celebrity guest. The celebrities include sport legends Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith, actress Mayim Bialik and Adruino co-founder Massimo Banzi. 

Fifteen teams will be selected to move forward to compete over the next five weeks, for one of five spots in the finals and USD 100,000 in prize money. The winning team will take home USD 1 million.
