Intel mulls sale of cyber-security ops - report

Intel is mulling the sale of its cyber-security operations, the Financial Times reported, citing anonymous sources. The company started talking with bankers about the future of Intel Security, including the potential sale of the anti-virus software maker formerly known as McAfee. The company bought the McAfee business for USD 7.7 billion five years ago.

Intel declined to comment on the report. The semiconductor company has been shifting its focus to higher-growth areas, such as chips for data centre machines and internet-connected devices.
