Intel Q1 revenues grow 25% to USD 12.8 bln
Intel reported first-quarter revenues of USD 12.8 billion, up 25 percent from a year earlier thanks to its takeover of McAfee and the Infineon Wireless business. The two takeovers added USD 496 million to sales. Intel also saw double-digit sales growth across most its product groups and geographies, the company said. PC Client Group revenue was up 17 percent, Data Center Group revenue rose 32 percent, other Intel architecture group revenue was up 70 percent, and Atom microprocessor and chipset revenue of USD 370 million increased 4 percent, all year-over-year. The gross margin fell 2 percentage points to 61 percent, while operating profit was up 21 percent to USD 4.2 billion. Net profit rose to USD 3.2 billion or 56 cents a share, up 30 percent year-on-year. For the second quarter, Intel forecast similar results, with revenue of around USD 12.8 billion and a gross margin at 61 percent. The company said it's on track for over 20 percent annual revenue growth, and forecast a full-year gross margin of around 63 percent.
