Jio passes 250 million customers milestone
Indian operator Reliance Jio has passed the milestone of 250 million customers. Jio saw 37 million net customer addition during the quarter ended 30 September 2018, up from 28.7 million in the previous quarter. Jio ended September with a total subscriber base of 252.3 million. Jio’s net subscriber addition during the past twelve months was 114 million.

Reliance Jio grows Q3 revenues 51% as 28 mln more customers added

India's fastest growing mobile operator Reliance Jio reported operating revenues of INR 103.8 billion for its fiscal third quarter to December, up 51 percent from a year earlier and 12 percent more than in Q2. EBIT rose a stronger 64 percent year-on-year to INR 23.6 billion, and the operator generated an EBITDA margin of 39.0 percent, up from 38.2 percent a year ago.

Bharti Airtel net profit falls 65% on continued slide in Indian mobile market

Bharti Airtel reported another drop in results for the fiscal second quarter to September, as regulatory price cuts and competitive pressure in the Indian mobile market offset growth in customer numbers. Revenues fell 6 percent year-on-year to INR 204.2 billion, and EBITDA was down 20.7 percent to INR 21 percent to INR 63.4 billion.

Reliance Jio invests in Hathway, Den Networks to speed fibre roll-out

Reliance Industries (RIL) has acquired a 66 percent stake in Den Networks and 51.3 percent in Hathway Cable and Datacom in order to expand into the fixed broadband market. The acquisitions of the cable networks is expected to support its plan to bring fibre broadband to 50 million homes across India.

India adds 10 mln telephone subscribers in July

India added 10.43 million telephone subscribers in July. In total, the country grew by 0.89 percent in the month to 1.179 billion telecom users, regulator TRAI reported. The overall teledensity in India reached 90.44 percent, versus 89.72 percent in June.

India mobile market accelerates to 15.5 mln net additions in June

Growth in the Indian telecom market accelerated to net subscriber additions of 15.37 million in June, nearly triple the previous month. In total, the country grew by 1.33 percent in the month to 1.169 billion telecom users, the regulator Trai reported. The overall teledensity in India reached 89.72 percent, versus 88.62 percent in May.

India adds 5.8 million phone subscribers in May

The number of telephone subscribers in India increased by 0.51 percent to 1.153 billion users in May, from 1.146 billion in April, which represents a net addition of 5.80 million telephone customers in the month. The overall teledensity in India reached 88.62 percent in May, according to a report from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). In May, around 4.51 million subscribers submitted requests for mobile number portability.
