Jolla has abandoned plans for its delayed tablet based on the Sailfish OS. While the company had two successful crowdfunding campaigns to support bringing the tablet to market, Jolla was unable to stay afloat, after delays in production and closing new financing late last year led the company to file for protection from creditors. The long delay has meant some components are no longer available for the tablet and it has become less viable to produce.
In the interest of the overall company, Jolla said it was forced to abandon the tablet project. It will still ship the device to some of the original Indiegogo backers as promised, but others who ordered the tablet last year will have their money refunded, starting from February.
