KT, Ericsson to build LTE-MTC, IOT services trial network

Ericsson has signed a MoU with South Korean operator KT for collaboration on Internet of Things (IoT) services. The partnership covers LTE-MTC (Machine Type Communications) network and IoT services, considering battery life, coverage and complexity of devices. KT and Ericsson plan to start verifying LTE-MTC technology and relevant IoT services in the first half of 2016 by building a trial network in Korea.

Via this partnership, KT and Ericsson may explore new B2B and B2G IoT business opportunities, to apply future proof network technology to KT and verifying relevant IoT services in advance.
