Lenovo reshuffles mobile business leadership team

Lenovo has announced a change in senior leadership. Liu Jun will take over the position of special consultant to the CEO on mobile business and strategy for a certain period of time. Jun currently serves as executive vice-president of Lenovo Mobile Business Group and chairman of the Motorola Mobility management board. Further details will be disclosed at this time, the company said. Chen Xudong will become the new head of Mobile Business Group and also chairman of Motorola Mobility.

Xudong joined Lenovo in 1993. Most recently, he served as CEO of ShenQi. Xudong will become co-chairman of ShenQi with George He. Edward Chang, currently VP of ShenQi, will become the CEO of ShenQi.

Lenovo plans job cuts as sales slow, profits fall

Lenovo saw its revenue growth slow to 3 percent in its fiscal first quarter June, to USD 10.7 billion. Net profit fell 51 percent year-on-year to USD 105 million. The company said it suffered from the slowdown in the PC and tablet market, growing competition in smartphones, especially in China, marcoeconomic and currency headwinds in key markets such as Brazil, and "rapidly shifting technology demand" at its enterprise business. Motorola unveils new Moto G, two Moto X smartphones

Motorola announced three new smartphones, updating its Moto G and X ranges. The entry-level Moto G launches first, available from 29 July in over 60 countries in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific. Lenovo unveils USD 129 PC-on-a-stick

Lenovo has announced the launch of a pocket-sized Windows PC dubbed the ideacentre Stick 300. The compute stick ships with Windows 8.1 but will be eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 10 starting 29 July. It follows similar plug and play PCs on a stick from Intel, Google and Dell, all of which allow users to transform almost any HDMI compatible TV or monitor into a fully functioning Windows-based PC.
