LG Electronics sues Wiko for LTE patent infringement

LG Electronics has filed a patent lawsuit against French smartphone maker Wiko. LG claims Wiko has violated its LTE technology patent rights, Yonhap news agency reports. This is the second time that LG is taking legal action against an overseas smartphone producer since suing US-based Blu Products in March 2017.

LG Electronics filed its lawsuit against Wiko with the district court of Mannheim, Germany. An official from LG Electronics said the lawsuit centers on three violations related to LTE network technology. 

Citing data from Strategy Analytics, LG Electronics claims Wiko sold more than 10 million units of smartphones in the European market in 2017. LG reports it first sent a letter of warning to Wiko in 2015 and made various efforts to reach a license agreement, claiming the European company did not respond to these requests.

LG sues TCL for LTE patent infringement

LG Electronics has filed lawsuits against Chinese handset manufacturer TCL in the German district courts of Mannheim and Dusseldorf, for infringing its LTE technology patents. LG clams TCL implemented technologies in its handsets that infringe three of LG's standard essential patents that cover key areas of LTE handsets: minimizing the loss of packet transmission, control timers for uplink synchronization and interference reduction in the uplink synchronizing process.

South Korean manufacturer LG Electronics has filed a lawsuit against US phone maker BLU for infringing on its patent on LTE technology, Yonhap news agency reports. LG claims BLU has violated five of its patents related to the LTE network. BLU sold around 5.2 million smartphones in the US in 2016.
