LG guides for sinking profit in Q4
LG Electronics has provided an earnings guidance for the fourth quarter, saying it sees consolidated sales at KRW 14.78 trillion, down 11.8 percent from the previous quarter but up 1.5 percent from the year before. The operating profit is expected to sink to KRW 35.3 billion, down from 283.2 billion in Q3 and 349.0 the year earlier.

LG Electronics reported sales of KRW 14.77 trillion in the fourth quarter of 2016, which represents an increase of 1.5 percent year-on-year, and 11.7 percent quarter-on-quarter. Both the LG Home Appliance & Air Solutions Company and LG Home Entertainment Company posted their strongest operating profit ever in 2016. However, due to losses from the Mobile Communications and Vehicle Components divisions, LG reported a fourth-quarter net loss of KRW 258.80 billion (approximately USD 223.98 million).

LG verwacht flinke winstdaling over Q4

LG heeft zijn guidance voor het vierde kwartaal van 2016 verstrekt. Volgens het Zuid-Koreaanse elektronicabedrijf komt de omzet in Q4 uit op 14,8 biljoen Koreaanse won, bijna 12 procent minder ten opzichte van het voorgaande kwartaal. Ten opzichte van een jaar eerder is er sprake van een toename van 1,5 procent. Naar verwachting daalt het operationeel resultaat van 349 miljard Koreaanse won in Q4 2015 naar 35,3 miljard. In Q3 2015 was nog sprake van een winst van 283,2 miljard Koreaanse won.

LG mobile revenues fall 23% in Q3, shipments down 9%

LG Electronics reported sales from its mobile phone business down 23 percent year-on-year in the third quarter to KRW 2.52 trillion (USD 2.3 billion). The company blamed the lower sales on a weak performance for top models like the G5 and price pressure in the smartphone market. Total smartphone shipments fell 9 percent year-on-year and were 3 percent lower versus Q2 at 13.5 million.
