LG launches Optimus G Pro 5.5-in Full HD smartphone
LG is launching the Optimus G Pro in Korea this week. The Optimus G Pro is LG's first Full HD smartphone and has the biggest display of any LG phone to date. The 5.5-in display delivers 1920 x 1080 pixels at 400 ppi and comes with new UX features to meet the demand for smartphones with large screens. The handset has a 13MP rear camera filming in Full HD and a 2.1MP front camera. It runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with an 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of memory. The phone will be exhibited at the Mobile World Congress.

LG Optimus G Pro sales in Korea hit 1 mln

LG Electronics has sold over 1 million Optimus G Pro handsets in its home market of South Korea, Yonhap reports. The Optimus G Pro features Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, a 1.7GHz Quad-Core CPU and Adreno 320 GPU, 2GB RAM and 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD IPS display. The smartphone runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2. Sales of the Optimus G Pro broke the 500,000-mark in the first forty days after its launch, making it LG's fastest selling smartphone.

LG doubles smartphone shipments to 10.3 mln in Q1

LG Electronics reported a drop in first-quarter profits, as a strong improvement at its mobile phone activities was offset by weakness at the home entertainment division. LG unveils Optimus G Pro upgrade

LG debuts eye-recognition video technology in Optimus G Pro

LG has announced that it would use a new eye-recognition technology, called Smart Video, in the Optimus G Pro smartphone. The handset's front camera observes when the viewer's eyes are no longer focused on the display to pause the video being viewed. It starts up again from the last point viewed when the user's gaze returns to the phone. The Optimus G Pro will also feature the world's first Dual Camera function, said LG. LG targets over 50% growth in smartphone shipments this year

LG Electronics intends to grow its smartphone shipments 52 percent this year to 40 million, helped by rising demand in emerging markets, Park Jong Seok, head of its mobile-communications division, said ahead of the Mobile World Congress. LG posts Q4 loss on fine; mobile sales improve

LG Electronics reported a net loss of KRW 468 billion (USD 429 million) for the fourth quarter, hurt by a fine over CRT pricing from the EU.
