LG V30 will be first handset to feature f/16 lens

LG announced that its upcoming V30 smartphone will be the first phone to feature an f/1.6 lens aperture, the largest in any handset to date. Scheduled to be officially released at IFA in Berlin on 31 August, LG revealed that the V30’s lens will let in 25 percent more light than the f/1.8 aperture of phones such as the Samsung 8 and the iPhone 7. It will also include a glass lens, which the company said delivers greater light-collecting ability than a plastic lens as well as better colour reproduction.

The company also said the V30’s camera cuts edge distortion by a third compared to the V20 when capturing wide angle shots but is 30 percent smaller in size than its predecessor. It also comes with laser detection AF as well as optical and electronic image stabilisation.

LG previously announced that the device will have a 6-inch OLED display and a 2,880 x 1,440 resolution, but thanks to the use of FullVision the actual body of the phone will be smaller than last year’s LG V20.
