Logitech launches Revue box with Google TV

Logitech has unveiled the first device running the Google TV software, the Logitech Revue. Based on the Intel Atom processor CE4100, the slim box connects over HDMI to a TV and set-top box to deliver linear broadcasts to the TV and also connects to a broadband line to access online content. Users can also watch their own personal media, such as photos, music and video, stored on USB or DLNA devices connected to the Revue. The Logitech Media Player on the applications section of the box helps access and control personal media, and Logitech is also offering iPhone and Android mobile apps for remote control of the box. The Revue is available now for pre-order and should be in shops in the US for USD 299.99 by the end of October. US satellite TV provider Dish Network will also offer the box to its customers. Logitech is offering a range of accessories for controlling the new box. These include the Logitech Keyboard Controller, a wireless keyboard with touch pad; the Mini Controller, a palm-sized keyboard, touch pad and remote control combo; and the TV Cam, which connects over USB to the Revue to use as a webcam on the TV. With the Vid HD app loaded on the Revue, users can make HD video calls with the TV Cam, at up to 720p.
