Microsoft closes acquisition of Skype
Microsoft has closed the USD 8.5 billion acquisition of Skype. The completion of the deal marks the official introduction of Skype as a new business division within Microsoft. The companies will remain focused on their shared goal of connecting all people across all devices and accelerating their efforts to transform real-time communications for consumers and enterprise customers. Skype CEO Tony Bates will assume the title of president of the Skype Division of Microsoft with immediate effect, reporting directly to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

Microsoft heeft de overname van Skype voor een bedrag van 8,5 miljard dollar afgerond. Hiermee wordt Skype officieel een nieuwe business division binnen Microsoft. Tony Bates, CEO van Skype, is per direct de president van de Skype Division van Microsoft. Hij rapporteert direct aan Microsoft-topman Steve Ballmer.
