Microsoft announced that only a handful of smartphones and mobile devices will continue to receive Windows OS updates. The so-called Windows 10 Creators Update, the latest to be released by the software giant, will come to the HP Elite x3; Microsoft Lumia 550, 640/640XL, 650 and 950/950 XL; Alcatel Idol 4S and OneTouch Fierce XL; SoftBank 503LV, Vaio Phone Biz, MouseComputer Madosma Q601 and Trinity NuAns NEO.
Other Windows smartphones can download the latest update at their own risk, as Microsoft will not continue to support other devices. The end to updates for older Windows phones follows Microsoft's decision to not renew its licence for the Nokia brand and sell off much of its phone activities. The Lumia 550 and 950 were the last models to be released by the company, at the end of 2015.
