The new Surface Pro comes with a slightly smaller screen than its predecessor, at 12.3-inches with 267 pixels per inch and optimised for both touch and the new Surface Pen. It can tilt back to 165-degrees to facilitate drawing and writing on the screen.
The device will come with choice of the latest Intel 7th generation 4M or i5 processors with fanless operation or the new i7. Microsoft claims the new Surface Pro offers 50 percent more battery life than its predecessor, at 13.5 hours of video playback with the i5 chip.
A new keyboard/cover is wrapped in a coated Alcantara material that's durable and stain resistant and offers more accurate typing, according to the company, as well as a five-finger multi-touch trackpad. Later this year, LTE connectivity will be added for the device.
The Surface Pro is available now for pre-order and will be released in 25 markets on 15 June.
The company also announced expanded availability of the Surface Studio premium desktop computer first unveiled last year. Surface Studio will launch in Austria, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK from 15 June.
