Mozilla, Telefonica show prototype HTML5 device in Brazil

Mozilla and Telefonica announced the first device from their earlier announced cooperation will launch in Brazil in late 2012 or early 2013. The two announced the cooperation in February at the Mobile World Congress, creating the Open Web Device platform for the development of "open" mobile phones based on the HTML5 standard. The goal is to facilitate the creation of devices with Mozilla's operating system Boot to Geckoto, which integrates HTML5 directly into the hardware. Telefonica has already created a prototype of a BtG phone, with HTML5 apps and features running from the Mozilla Firefox browser, Gary Kovacs, CEO of Mozilla, said at a presentation in Brazil reported by the blog Ztop. Mozilla plans to submit the platform to the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) for standardisation.
