MTS revenues, profit rise in Q1

The consolidated revenues of Russian and CIS mobile operator MTS totaled RUB 107.9 billion in the first quarter, up by 3.1 percent from the year before. Revenues grew by 4.0 percent to RUB 101.1 billion in Russia alone.  

Group OIBDA amounted to RUB 52.1 billion, up by 24.6 percent. On a like-on-like basis and not taking into account new IFRS standards, OIBDA grew by 6.5 percent. The figure totaled RUB 49.6 billion in Russia, up by 25.6 percent. The net profit was RUB 15.4 billion, up by 23.6 percent. Capex jumped by 50.1 percent to RUB 16.7 billion.

Overall the group‘s performance was mostly driven by Russia, which benefited from a relatively stronger pricing environment, higher data usage and continued adoption of digital services. 

The operator's mobile subscriber base slid 0.2 percent to 106.2 million. The number also fell 0.2 percent for Russia, to 78.1 million.
