NEC to sell mobile handset unit to Lenovo - report
NEC is in talks to sell its mobile phone unit to its personal computer venture partner Lenovo, a source familiar with the discussions told Reuters. NEC is also in talks with potential domestic buyers, the report said. The company confirmed in a statement that it was considering ways to improve results at its mobile phone business, but said nothing has been decided yet.

NEC FY profits better than expected

NEC reported revenues for its fiscal year to March below its earlier forecast due to weaker sales at its carrier networks and PC divisions. Revenues were up 1.1 percent from a year earlier to JPY 3.072 trillion, but fell short of its guidance of JPY 3.15 trillion. Lenovo eyes Apple, Samsung in smartphone, tablet markets

Lenovo plans to challenge Apple and Samsung's leadership in the tablet and smartphone markets, according to CEO Yang Yuanqing. In an interview with German business magazine 'Focus', he said that Lenovo was targeting overall leadership in desktop PC, notebook, tablet and smartphone markets. NEC to sell NEC Mobiling for up to JPY 80 billion - report

NEC is planning to sell mobile phone retailer NEC Mobiling for between JPY 70 billion and JPY 80 billion, people familiar with the situation told Reuters.
