Nokia scraps COO post, Erlemeier leaves company on 01 January

Nokia has announced that it is discontinuing the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) and distributing its various functions to other executives. As a result, current COO Joerg Erlemeier has decided to step down from the group leadership team, it said, and leave the company on 01 January 2020.

President and CEO Rajeev Suri said Erlemeier has been a trusted colleague and leaves Nokia with thanks and deep appreciation for his many important contributions.

Erlemeier said he is ready to take on new challenges after 25 years at Nokia. He said the company is in the middle of a transition and he believes that the right plan is in place to improve future performance.
