Nokia smartphone chief resigns
Anssi Vanjoki, the head of Nokia's Mobile Solutions division, is resigning. Mobile Solutions was created in May to group the company's high-end mobile computer and smartphone activities. It includes devices based on the MeeGo and Symbian software platforms. Vanjoki, an executive VP and member of the Nokia group executive board, has a six-month notice period and will continue working for the time being, Nokia said. He said he "felt the time has come to seek new opportunities".

Nokia chairman to step down in 2012

Nokia's chairman Jorma Ollila plans to step down in 2012, a spokeswoman for the company told the Wall Street Journal. Ollila's planned departure follows the announced exits in recent days of CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo and Anssi Vanjoki, the head of Nokia's smartphone unit. Nokia changes smartphone management ahead of Nokia World

Nokia has decided to replace its CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo with Stephen Elop, from Microsoft. The market applauded the move with a 5 percent rise in Nokia's share price. Nokia changes CEO, names Microsoft's Elop

Nokia has appointed Stephen Elop its new president and CEO, effective 21 September. Elop currently heads Microsoft's Business Division. Before joining Microsoft, he held senior executive positions in a number of US-based public companies, including Juniper Networks, Adobe Systems and Macromedia.
