Nokia sues Apple for iPhone patent infringement
Nokia has filed a complaint against Apple with the Federal District Court in Delaware, alleging that Apple's iPhone infringes Nokia patents for GSM, UMTS and wireless LAN (WLAN) standards. The ten patents in suit relate to technologies fundamental to making devices which are compatible with one or more of the GSM, UMTS (3G WCDMA) and WLAN standards. The patents cover mobile/wireless data, speech coding, security and encryption and are infringed by all Apple iPhone models shipped since the iPhone was introduced in 2007.

Nokia has filed a further complaint with the US International Trade Commission alleging that Apple infringes additional Nokia patents in virtually all of its mobile phones, portable music players, tablets and computers. Nokia files fresh patent complaints against Apple

Nokia has filed claims in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands alleging that Apple infringes Nokia patents in many of its products sold in these countries, including the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. These actions add 13 further Nokia patents to the 24 already asserted against Apple in the US International Trade Commission and the Delaware and Wisconsin Federal courts in the US, the Finnish company said. Apple has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the UK against Nokia, reports Bloomberg. This is part of a wider dispute between them over smartphone technology. Filed with the UK High Court of Justice, the case relates to patent infringement claims that Apple filed in the US in December against Nokia, according to an Apple spokesperson.
