NTT has announced the launch of its Private 5G platform (P5G), the first globally available private LTE/5G Network-as-a-Service platform. It said NTT P5G helps chief information officers and chief digital officers use the benefits of private 5G to solve business problems and innovate. NTT P5G uses design thinking principles to integrate security, control and privacy, providing performance and cost benefits with a clear ROI, said the company.
The platform runs on a cloud-native architecture and can be delivered via cloud, on-premises or at the edge. It is integrated with leading network and software partners, allowing enterprises to secure, scale and segment their network flexibly. With patent-pending MicroSlicing technology, NTT P5G lets mission-critical apps use the advantages of private 5G.
NTT said it puts cloud-based economics and automation at the heart of its vision for private 5G. NTT aims to serve industries, including automotive, manufacturing, healthcare and retail. It said it offers a best-in-class global network, deep vertical expertise, and a full suite of application development and management capabilities.
NTT has appointed Shahid Ahmed as EVP of New Ventures and Innovation to pioneer the Private 5G service portfolio. He has over 25 years of technology experience focused on business transformation, including leadership roles at Accenture, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Sprint. In addition, he is an appointed advisor to the US Federal Communications Commission.
