O2 Czech Republic considers fixed network separation
O2 Czech Republic is considering options for separating its fixed network infrastructure into a separate entity that would provide wholesale services to other telecommunication companies on the market. The regulator CTU has been informed of its intentions. O2 Czech Republic said it will make the decision whether to continue pursuing the project only after completion of the analysis.

O2 Czech Republic prepares infrastructure separation

O2 Czech Republic has proceeded to completion of a feasibility study of the separation of its fixed and mobile telecommunications infrastructure into a separate entity. This would provide wholesale services to other telecommunications companies in the market, in the form of a spin-off into a new company. O2 Czech Republic reported revenues for the first half of 2014 of CZK 21.773 billion, down 8.9 percent from a year earlier. Excluding cuts to mobile termination rates, the operator said revenues would have fallen 6.1 percent. O2 Czech Republic looks to collect old debts

O2 Czech Republic is offering to waive interest and late-payment fees for customers who settle outstanding bills by 23 September. The operator said it was aware of its social responsibility to help consumers and business going through a difficult financial period. On the website www.cistystul.cz, current and former customers can find instructions on how to settle their bills or apply for a debt procedure. The operator also encourages existing customers to set up direct debit payments in order to avoid late

O2 Czech Republic upgrades LTE to 110 Mbps

O2 Czech Republic announced an increase in its maximum LTE speed to 110 Mbps, available for all customers subscribing to mobile data services. The operator also updated its mobile broadband plans for tablet and laptop users, adding more data. On a 24-month contract, the company now offers 1.5 GB per month for CZK 199, 5 GB for CZK 449 and 10 GB for CZK 649. Without a contract, the prices increase to respectively CZK 299, 549 and 749 per month. The new plans are available for consumers as well as businesses

O2 Czech Republic deploys LTE Advanced

O2 Czech Republic has deployed LTE Advanced (LTE-A) in selected locations. The technology allows the usage of several frequency ranges simultaneously, which can increase speed. The technology is already available in the southeastern part of Vysocina. Using frequency blocks of 10 and 5 MHz and dedicated devices, a download speed of 112 Mbps can be reached. O2 is also testing carrier aggregation with blocks of 10 and 15 MHz to support download speeds of up to 185 Mbps.
