O2 Germany customers signing up for DSL plans will receive a D-Link Smart Home HD Starter Kit free from 1 September. The D-Link Smart Home HD Starter Kit includes a Smart Plug for connecting electronic devices to the power outlet, a WLAN motion sensor and an HD camera for video surveillance. All components are connected through the home Wi-Fi network and can be operated from anywhere via the mydlink Home App for smartphones and tablets. This allows users to intelligently adjust several functions via the app, for example setting lights to turn on only when there is motion in the room, or automatically switching on the coffee maker in the morning.
The mydlink Home App has a configuration assistant that guides users through the set-up of all devices in the Starter Kit step-by-step. This allows for setting fixed rules and running times for devices at the touch of a button. Additionally, the integrated thermal sensor of the Smart Plug can be programmed in order to shut down power outlets in case of over-heating. Automatic notifications inform users of devices shutting down, defective devices or if the power consumption by a specific unit is varying. Additional devices like a smart water sensor or smoke detector can be added to the smart home network later.
The kit is included with the DSL All-in M, L or XL tariffs. Customers signing up for an O2 DSL All-in S plan, as well as all existing customers, can buy the Starter Kit for EUR 159 at selected shops.
