
Satellite communications company OneWeb has confirmed the successful launch of 36 satellites from a Soyuz launch vehicle on 18 December, paving the way for commercial services.
This launch brings the total number of LEO satellites in orbit to 110. OneWeb plans to operate a 648 LEO satellite constellation to provide high-speed global connectivity. It is on track to launch regional commercial services in the UK, Northern Europe, Alaska, Greenland, Iceland and Canada in 2021; followed by global service in 2022.
