Opera Software has launched an upgraded version of its Opera Mini browser for Android users. The company said Opera Mini 8 comes with a completely redesigned interface to give it a more native Android look and feel. The browser’s main feature is the ability to compress sites to as little as 10 percent of their original size, extending data plans further. The new Android version also includes an overhauled Speed Dial, support for private browsing, the ability to customise the browser layout as well as a data counter to help users keep data costs under control.
Coinciding with the launch of the upgraded browser, Opera said it was looking to more than double the number of users on Android to 275 million by 2017, up from the current figure of 130 million.
