Orange signs deal to sell Armenian subsidiary

Orange has signed an agreement to sell its wholly-owned subsidiary Orange Armenia to Armenian ISP Ucom. The French telecom group said the operation will help create a strong convergent Armenian player capable of offering its customers a broad range of fixed and mobile services. Orange Armenia was established in 2009 after Orange acquired a mobile telecoms licence. Orange Amernia offers services over its 3G+ networks in the capital Yerevan and in rural areas. It had 630,000 customers at the end of 2014 and employs 500 people. Further details of the agreement were not disclosed.
