Orange Spain renews football deal with Telefonica

Orange Spain has renewed its agreement with rights holder Telefonica to broadcast a full range of football offers during the 2020-21 season. The deal means Orange will continue to air games from the domestic top-tier LaLiga Santander, second-tier LaLiga SmartBank as well as the Champions League, Europa League and other European leagues such as the Italian Serie A and the French Ligue 1 via the Movistar LaLiga and Movistar Champions League channels. 

In a short blog post, Orange confirmed that it paid close to EUR 300 million for the rights, a similar figure to the 2019-20 season, and that all the games featuring Real Madrid and Barcelona will be aired in 4K next season. It also said all Jazztel customers will be able to access games via the Orange TV platform.

In 2018 Telefonica paid around EUR 4 billion to secure the domestic TV rights for La Liga from 2019 to 2022 as well as the rights to the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League until 2022. 

A report in business daily Expansion said broadcaster Mediaset Spain will no longer be offering La Liga, the Champions League and the Europa League via its streaming service Mitele Plus.

Telefonica to air Barcelona-PSG game in 4K

Telefonica has confirmed that it will be airing the Barcelona versus Paris Saint Germain football game in 4K-UHD quality on a dedicated channel on 16 February. The game will be broadcast on the Movistar Champions League UHD channel (dial 441 of the Movistar+ service) and is the first of 8 games from the knockout stage of this year's Champions League tournament to air in full UHD to subscribers with the operator's 4K-enabled set-top box.

Orange Spain has come to an agreement with rights holder Telefonica to air the forthcoming Spanish Super Cup on a dedicated channel, reports ADSL Zone. The 4-team tournament will be broadcast on the Vamos channel to Movistar+ customers and on the dedicated Movistar Supercopa channel to Orange TV subscribers from 13 to 17 January.

Orange Spain inks deal to add Warner's TNT Now to TV offer

Orange Spain has followed the launch of VoD services including AMC Selekt and 'Cosmo On' so far this year by adding WarnerMedia's TNT Now service to its pay-TV platform. Orange TV subscribers can already access the 27 different series, 54 seasons and more than 600 episodes available on TNT Now, including 'The Rookie', 'Prodigal Son' and 'Raised by Wolves', created by Ridley Scott. Subscribers will also be able to watch the final series of 'Vikings' on an exclusive basis in December, said the operator.

Orange Spain to add Dazn sports channel - report

Dazn has reached a new agreement to expand its sports streaming service in Spain and will shortly be launching a dedicated channel for bars on the Orange TV platform, reports website ADSL Zone. The live sports platform has promoted its OTT player via numerous operator promotions since launching last year, including a recent one with Yoigo, but this would be the first time it airs content in Spain via a linear channel, said the report, without providing any specific pricing or launch details.

Orange Spain adds Eurosport 4K channel to UHD TV offer

Orange Spain has announced that starting 27 September, all subscribers to its pay-TV offer will be able to access the Eurosport 4K channel for free. The channel will be available on dial no. 102 throughout the forthcoming French Open tennis tournament from Roland-Garros to customers with 4K Ultra HD (UHD) TVs and compatible set-top boxes such as the operator's voice-activated 4K HDR decoder with Android TV.

Orange Spain adds LaLigaSportsTV to Android TV STB

Orange Spain has announced a deal with the Spanish football league (La Liga) to add the latter's LaLigaSportsTV app to its Android TV decoder. All Orange TV customers can now directly access free live and on-demand sporting content via the app including badminton, basketball, handball, boxing, gymnastics, hockey, triathlon, water polo, motor racing, cycling, fencing, e-sports and lower-league football, among others.

Orange Spain has launched a promotion on its new Love packages including all the top Spanish football. New subscribers to the Orange Love convergent plans will get EUR 20 off the monthly price for 12 months if they sign up before the end of September, as well as 50 percent off the subscription price the first three months.

Orange Spain has announced an upcoming revamp of its Love-branded convergent plans, including a major overhaul of its Orange TV platform. Starting 03 August, all of the operator's Love plans include TV content, as well as more mobile data and permanent prices. Jazztel halves price of more convergent plans for 6 months

Spanish operator Jazztel, an Orange brand, has announced a new flash offer whereby subscribers to four of its convergent plans will pay half the monthly rate if they sign up by 12 July. The company's Doblemente Irresistible plan with 50GB of data across two mobile lines, unlimited calls plus 100Mbps fibre broadband will be available for EUR 29.95 a month instead of the usual price of EUR 59.95 a month for 6 months on a 12-month contract.

Orange Spain improves convergent plans with more bundled data

Orange Spain has further improved two of its convergent plans after revamping the majority of its range in May. The operator has decided to automatically double the mobile data bundled with its Love Inicial plan from 6GB to 12GB for existing and new customers alike for the same monthly price of EUR 53.95 for 300Mbps fibre broadband, EUR 63.95 for 600Mbps and EUR 73.95 for 1Gbps.
