Orange, Telekom Romania enter network-sharing deals - report

Orange Romania and Telekom Romania entered into two network-sharing deals at the beginning of December that cover Telekom's access to Orange's LTE network and Orange's access to Telekom's fixed network, writes local paper Ziarul Financiar citing market sources. The secrete negotiations for these deals began two years ago under the 'Apolodor' code name. The deals aim to reduce both operators' costs as well as improve their positions in the competition against rivals RCS&RDS and Vodafone Romania. Telekom gained access to Orange's 4G/LTE network through a national roaming contract, while Orange will be able to offer fixed services through Telekom's fixed infrastructure.

In related news, RCS&RDS currently has access to Vodafone Romania's mobile network through a national data roaming agreement covering two years it signed with the operator in April 2014.
