Palm warns for sales 'well below' FY outlook

Palm warned its revenues will come in lower than expected as its latest smartphones have failed to take off. The company forecast revenues for the fiscal third quarter at USD 285-310 million and fiscal 2010 sales "well below" its previous range of USD 1.6-1.8 billion. Palm said in a statement that "driving broad consumer adoption of Palm products is taking longer than anticipated", and the group is working with mobile operators to raise awareness and drive sales of Palm products. The company will provide more details when its reports quarterly results on 18 March. The handset maker expects to finish fiscal Q3, which runs to end-February, with over USD 500 million in cash.
