Pecik could sell Telekom Austria stake to Telenor - report
Austrian investor Ronnie Pecik is trying to sell off his (in)direct stake in Telekom Austria of more than 15 percent to Russian telecom concerns, according to Austrian magazine Format citing e-mails from Russian mobile operator Vimpelcom. But Vimpelcom and Russian technology group Sistema are not interested. At the same time, sources told Format that Pecik has signed a preliminary agreement with Norway-based telecommunications group Telenor, but currently Pecik has a too small stake for Telenor's needs: 15 percent versus 25 percent plus one share.

Telekom Austria Group announced that Vienna-based RPR Privatstiftung, the investment vehicle of Ronny Pecik, now directly and indirectly holds 15.018 percent of Telekom Austria shares. It also indirectly holds call options to acquire an additional 5.1 percent of Telekom Austria shares. In total, this represents direct and indirect holdings of 20.118 percent in Telekom Austria. The Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPO) will defend the government's shares in Telekom Austria, according to Die Presse citing State Secretary for Finances Andreas Schieder. Since October, private investor Ronny Pecik holds over 15 percent of Telekom Austria and according to media reports, he is interested in acquiring up to 29 percent. TA chairman calls for revised dividend policy

Telekom Austria Group supervisory board chairman Walter Hotz does not see any problems with investor Ronny Pecik acquiring a stake in the company, APA reports. However, he insists that the government's 28 percent stake in the company must not be diluted any further, and that the company must revise its dividend policy. In an interview, Hotz said that the dividend payment is no longer affordable. The company recently confirmed plans to pay a dividend of EUR 0.76 per share for 2011 and 2012.

Oman investors eye Telekom Austria stake

A group of investors based in Oman has shown interest in buying a 28.4 percent stake in Telekom Austria. According to the magazine Format, citing a letter from an Austrian businessman, Mirko Kovats wrote to the head of the state holding company OeIAG to express the Omani interest in the stake.
