Russian mobile base contracts in 2018, Beeline leads losses

Russia's mobile subscriber base totaled 255.710 million at the end of 2018, down from 256.410 million a year earlier, according to the latest figures from ACM-Consulting. Market penetration was stable at 179 percent.

The subscriber base totaled 46.248 million in Moscow, up from 45.881 million in 2017, and the mobile penetration was 249 percent in the capital city, up by 2 percentage points.

MTS led the total market with 78.010 million subscribers, despite a small decline from 78.300 million in 2017. Megafon came second with 75.200 million, down from 75.445 million, and Beeline followed with 55.253 million, down from 58.160 million. Subscribers at Tele2 Russia increased from 41.600 million to 44.050 million, including 1.750 million subscribers of MVNOs working on its network.

Russian mobile telecoms service revenue expands by 5% in 2018

Russian operators lifted their mobile service revenue by 5 percent year on year in 2018 to RUB 957 billion, according to a study by mobile operator Beeline. Growth had been 3.8 percent in 2017. MTS had a market share of 32.7 percent, down by 0.7 percentage points. Megafon had a 28.3 percent share, down by 0.2 percentage points. Beeline followed with 24.0 percent, down by 0.6 percentage points. Tele2 Russia raised its market share to 15.0 percent, up by 1.5 percentage points.

Megafon Q4 profit falls despite higher revenues

Russian mobile operator Megafon said revenues grew by 4.5 percent year-on-year in the fourth quarter, to RUB 88.412 billion. The OIBDA meanwhile decreased to RUB 27.561 billion, down by 4.5 percent, the OIBDA margin declined by 2.9 percentage points to 31.2 percent and the net profit dropped by 62.7 percent to RUB 1.133 billion. Results were affected by higher expenses and capex, plus customer losses.

MTS grows Q4 revenues 11%, sees slower growth in 2019

MTS Group grew revenues 11.3 percent year-on-year to RUB 130.1 billion in the fourth quarter of 2018. Revenues generated in Russia increased by 10.7 percent to RUB 121.5 billion.

Tele2 Russia revenues rise 16% in 2018

Revenues of mobile operator Tele2 Russia totaled RUB 143 billion in 2018, up by 16.4 percent year-on-year, reports Cnews.ru. Its EBITDA amounted to RUB 43.7 billion, up by 43.2 percent. The EBITDA margin grew by 5.7 percentage points to 30.5 percent. The net profit was RUB 2.7 billion.

Beeline revenues up 8% in Q4, EBITDA slightly lower

Revenues of Russian operator Beeline, controlled by the Veon Group, grew by 7.8 percent year-on-year to RUB 75.895 billion in the fourth quarter. The growth was driven by an increase in mobile service revenue and strong growth in sales of equipment and accessories of 138 percent, which was attributable to the additional monobrand stores following the integration of the mobile retail chain Euroset and rebranding, which began in the first quarter of 2018.
