
Samsung drops Qualcomm for next Galaxy S - report

Samsung Electronics will use its own microprocessors in the next version of the Galaxy S smartphone, dropping its use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip that overheated during the Korean company's testing, people with direct knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg. Samsung tested the new 810 version of Qualcomm's Snapdragon chip and decided not to use it, the report said. The new Galaxy S, which could b unveiled as early as March, will be equipped with Samsung's most advanced chips, one of the people said. Both companies declined to comment.
