Samsung Galaxy S10 5G smartphone to go on sale in Korea 5 April
South Korean mobile operators started accepting pre-orders for Samsung's first 5G smartphone, which is scheduled for launch later this week. SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus said they will launch promotions for users who pre-order the 5G version, which will officially go on sale on 5 April, Yonhap news agency reports. The Galaxy S10 5G 512GB is available for KRW 1.55 million (approximately USD 1,320), while the 256GB variant costs KRW 1.39 million, Samsung said.

Users of the new device, which supports both 4G and 5G networks, will have to pay more for their monthly subscriptions as companies' data plans are expected to range between KRW 50,000 and 100,000.

SK Telecom reports it will offer Samsung wireless earphones, a discount coupon for Samsung Galaxy Watch Active or wireless charging packaging as bonus for customers who register their new phones by 16 May.

SK Telecom has recently received government approval for its new 5G pricing plan, which starts from KRW 55,000 won for 8GB data. The company plans to announce its pricing plan on 3 April and will charge KRW 75,000 for 150GB of data, KRW 95,000 for 200GB and KRW 125,000 for 300GB, according to company officials.

KT said it will also accept preorders this week, providing gifts including fried chicken, home appliance products and mobile gift coupons. It plans to launch its 5G service and pricing plan on 4 April. LG Uplus said its 5G plans for the Galaxy S10 will include virtual reality (VR) headsets as well as smartphone insurance vouchers and YouTube premium service for early adopters.

LG Uplus offers three types of monthly subscription plans for its 5G smartphone: KRW 55,000 for 9GB, KRW 75,000 for 150GB and KRW 95,000 for 250GB.
