Samsung introduces 3 new Bada phones
Samsung is unveiling three new phones running its Bada mobile operating system at the Ifa trade show in Berlin. The Wave 3, Wave M and Wave Y all run Bada 2.0, which offers features such as multi-tasking, WiFi Direct, voice recognition and NFC. The Wave 3 features a 4-inch Amoled screen, 1.4GHz processor and 5-megapixel camera. The Wave M comes with a 3.65-inch HVGA screen and is aimed at social network users. The Wave Y is a low-end handset with a 3.2-inch screen, targeted at first-time smartphone users. All three will come with Samsung's new instant messaging service ChatOn, as well as access to Samsung Apps, its app store with around 30,000 applications. The phones will launch in the fourth quarter for recommended prices of respectively EUR 399, 249 and 159.

Virgin Mobile France launches Samsung Wave 3 smartphone

MVNO Virgin Mobile France is the first mobile operator to sell the Samsung Wave 3 smartphone in France, Echos du Net reports. The new phone running the Bada operating system sells for EUR 199 on all plans other than the 8-hour and 4-hour Very Smartphone plans, with the Wave 3 costing EUR 1 and EUR 9, respectively. Samsung, InMobi launch monetisation programme for developers

Samsung and InMobi launched Samsung AdHub, a monetisation programme aimed at Bada developers. To mark the start of this initiative, Samsung AdHub launched a promotion during which members get a publisher revenue share of 80 percent compared to the standard industry revenue share of 60 percent. The promotion lasts until the end of December. To join the programme, developers need to create an in-app ad inventory and then select InMobi as one of the ad networks to receive ads from.

Samsung OS Bada to go open source in 2012 - report

Samsung plans to open up its Bada mobile operating system to outside developers and device makers next year in a bid to reduce its reliance on Google's Android. Samsung to launch mobile instant messaging service

Samsung announced plans to launch a new instant messaging service for its mobile devices. The service ChatOn will launch in October on smartphones running Android and Samsung's own OS bada. Samsung said it will also make the software available for basic feature phones and PCs, as well as for use on other mobile OS such as iPhones and BlackBerries. The service will be available in more than 120 countries, in 67 languages.
