Samsung introduces Galaxy Alpha smartphone with metal frame
Samsung Electronics has unveiled a new smartphone with a metal frame, the Galaxy Alpha. Samsung said it focused on "elegant aesthetics and compact construction" with the new phone, which comes with a 4.7-inch Amoled display. In addition to the metal frame, the Galaxy Alpha features curved corners and a soft-touch back cover. It will be available at the beginning of September in a choice of black, white, gold, silver and blue models. 

The LTE phone also comes with an octa-core processor, Android 4.4, 12-megapixel rear camera and 2.1-megapixel front camera, support for 4K video, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage (no card slot) and a 1,860 mAh battery. The recommended retail price is EUR 599.

Samsung drops Qualcomm for next Galaxy S - report

Samsung Electronics will use its own microprocessors in the next version of the Galaxy S smartphone, dropping its use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip that overheated during the Korean company's testing, people with direct knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg.
