Korea's mobile operators have seen pre-orders for Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Note 9 around 30-50 percent higher than those for the Galaxy S9 released in March, reports Yonhap News citing industry sources. Nevertheless, orders are at only around 80 percent of the level seen for last year's Galaxy Note 8 phablet, a mobile operator representative said.
The figures are still considered "solid", as demand for the Note 8 was especially strong after the battery problems of the Note 7 released in 2016. Korean mobile carriers ended pre-orders for the new smartphone on 20 August, and the first customers will receive their phones from 21 August. Sales in shops start on 24 August.
