Samsung sales, profit down again in Q4
Samsung Electronics reported preliminary results for the fourth quarter, showing revenues down to KRW 52 trillion from KRW 59.2 trillion a year earlier. Operating profit fell to KRW 5.2 trillion from KRW 8.3 trillion. The company did not provide further details. Samsung will give a full quarterly report at a later date.

Samsung Q1 profit falls less than expected

Samsung Electronics reported preliminary revenues of KRW 47 trillion for the first quarter, down from KRW 54 trillion a year earlier. Operating profit fell to KRW 5.9 trillion from KRW 8.5 trillion a year ago. While the company continued to post lower results, the drop in profit was less than expected by analysts polled by Bloomberg. The analyst consensus was for revenues of KRW 50.1 trillion and profit of KRW 5.5 trillion. Samsung will give a full quarterly report later this month.

Samsung to freeze salaries in Korea

Samsung Electronics will this year freeze the salaries of all its workers in South Korea. The salary freeze is Samsung's first in six years and is designed to strengthen competitiveness given business conditions are "not optimistic", Bloomberg reported citing a statement from the company in Seoul. Performance incentives and bonuses aren't included in the freeze, the company said. Samsung had 99,556 employees in Korea as of 30 September 2014.

Samsung has appointed a new head of strategic marketing for its mobile business as it prepares to launch its next Galaxy S smartphone. Samsung net profit falls 27% on smartphone slowdown

Samsung Electronics reported a fall in fourth-quarter net profit to KRW 5.35 trillion from KRW 7.30 trillion a year earlier. Operating profit dropped to KRW 5.29 trillion from KRW 8.31 trillion, and revenues declined to KRW 52.73 trillion from KRW 59.28 trillion a year ago. Samsung Electronics is considering a stock split.
