Samsung sees drop in Q4 operating profit
Samsung Electronics said it expects to report an operating profit of KRW 8.1-8.5 trillion for the fourth quarter, down from KRW 8.8 trillion in the year-earlier period. Revenues for the three months to December are estimated at 58-60 trillion, up slightly from KRW 56.1 trillion in Q4 2012. The company did not provide further details. A full quarterly report will be released at a later date.

Samsung Q4 operating profit lower as smartphone sales slow

Samsung Electronics reported a drop in fourth-quarter operating profit, as the company increased marketing in an attempt to fight off growing competition in the smartphone and tablet market. Samsung offers small increase in dividend

Samsung Electronics has said it may increase its dividend, amid investor pressure to hand over some of its cash to shareholders. Samsung growth slows in Q3

Samsung said it expects to report operating profit of KRW 9.9-10.3 trillion and revenues of KRW 58-60 trillion for the third quarter. This represents a slowdown in profit growth to 22.8-27.8 percent year-on-year and revenues up 11-15 percent from a year earlier. The profit is still a record for the company, but annual growth was half the 47.5 percent reported in Q2. The company will provide a full quarterly report at the end of October.

Samsung will spend KRW 1.5 trillion over ten years to support economic growth in the country. The Samsung Research Foundation will invest KRW 500 billion in supporting research and development in basic science and KRW 1 trillion will be invested in ICT and materials engineering, Yonhap News writes.
