Samsung Electronics plans to commercially launch its Galaxy Gear S3 smartwatch in November. The device will initially be available in Korea, the US and select European countries, The Korea Times reports. "We decided to market the Gear S3 midway through November at the latest in Korea and some other countries", a Samsung official said. "In China, the timepiece will be launched later", he added. Pricing details will be announced after the release date is set.
The Galaxy Gear S3 was unveiled in August at the IFA trade show in Germany. The water-resistant Galaxy Gear S3 features a 3.3-centimeter circular display, has an in-built GPS and supports contactless payments. In an emergency situation, Gear 3 smartwatch users can tap the back buttons three times to send SOS signals and their location to shown to friends or relatives, even if the smartwatch is not connected to a mobile phone.
